Lionheart in the “Orange” with Gold Award

9 Jun 2008

Exeter-based advertising and design agency are in the “orange”, having gained the Gold Award for Payroll Giving from the Institute of Fundraising.

Payroll Giving is a scheme that enables employees to give to any UK charity straight from their gross salary (before tax is deducted), and to receive immediate tax relief of up to £4 for every £10 donated.

It is an easy, tax-effective way to give to charity - so it costs employees less to give more. The system is easy to opt in and out of, giving donors full control over their giving.

To qualify for the Gold Award, 10% or more of employees need to participate in the scheme. This year, 25% of Lionheart’s staff signed up to the scheme, which helped to raise an impressive £529 in the 2007/8 tax year.

Charities that Lionheart employees donated to through the scheme included Homestart, a charity helping families with young children, NSPCC and Cancer Research.

“We’re proud to have achieved Gold Status and the scheme is a great way for organisations and employees to easily donate a regular amount to the charity of their choice.” says Bee Temple, Finance Director at Lionheart.

Awards will be presented at an evening reception on Wednesday 8th October at the HM Treasury in London. For more information on setting up and promoting Payroll Giving please contact Payroll Giving Centre on 0845 602 6786.
