“Education isn’t designed to make people creative, it’s designed to make people do other things and do them well.” Ken Robinson, Out of Our Minds: Learning to be Creative

The problem for most people today is that they have forgotten how to be creative. By the time we reach 12 or 13 years old our innate curiosity and natural tendency to experiment as we investigate and learn about the world in which we live has been stifled by the need to pass exams and conform to the accepted ways on doing things.

One way of trying to step out of this trap is to imagine yourself as someone else and then consider how that person might approach the challenge you face. So next time you need some inspiration ask yourself how a 5 year old would react, what your Mum would say in the situation, or maybe what an inspirational personality like Richard Branson or Steve Jobs would do. Soon you should have several different answers to the same challenge.
